How to choose Sonnet 5.5 or GPT-6.1 Sol for business automation
By Ben Lane
Film: Anthropic, from the Claude Sonnet 5.5 launch page
Two new AI models came out a day apart: Claude Sonnet 5.5 from Anthropic on 28 September, and GPT-6.1 Sol from OpenAI on the 29th. Both charge the same rate for the text they handle, and each company's launch page makes its own model look best. Only one public test has scored both on real business tasks, Zapier's AutomationBench, and its answer is split. Sonnet 5.5 gets more tasks right when it is set to think its hardest. GPT-6.1 Sol costs under a third as much per task, and at the everyday setting, the one the Claude apps use, it gets more right. So the better model depends on the job, and this guide shows you how to test it on your own work. You connect the same apps to both, give each the same real job, then open your apps and check what each one changed. At the end you know which model should do that job and what each run costs.
