How to build Claude Code mods from the way you already work
By Ben Lane
Screens: Anthropic's sample mods, github.com/anthropics/claude-code-playground
If you use Claude Code every day (it is the version of Claude that works on your own computer), there are a few things you type, paste or check again and again: how much of your plan is left, the same notes for every new chat, whether another chat has just changed the file you are about to edit. Claude Code can now turn habits like these into mods. A mod is a small add-on that can put a line of information on screen, add a button or a one-word command, or stop and ask you before a risky change. You describe it in plain English and Claude writes it for you. This guide takes you from the habit you repeat most to a mod you have checked for safety and saved, so it is there every time you open Claude Code.
